they themselves are the ones giving comfort and aid to the enemy? Do they not realize that the terrorists watch our news stations and read our papers? Every time they see a stupid anti-war rally or some famous person slamming our troops and our President, don't they think that this is encouraging terrorists and giving them more will to fight?
The worse thing you can show an enemy is weakness.. they will find new life to fight even when they are on the ropes.
So do you think with the proper support for our troops, a united voice and the ability to actually fight the war the way it should be fought, that the enemy might just start to weaken in spirits and this thing could come to a closure sooner?

I love when the libs give such "colorful answers! and I even got the hopeful wishes of being killed by terrorsts!
Your right clair of course! Saddam was a great guy! No terrorist there! Deploying mustard gas on hundreds of thousands of Kurds is.... what? And the fact that he would not comply with 17 UN resolutions and wanted to flex to the world that he was close to obtaining nukes and would use them, doesn't sound like a terrrorist to me. You are right... we should have left that nice man alone....

Elana... LOL... you are funny too! How many times do you type "Bush Lied" every night? Do some homework would you? Bush stated intelligence given to him from British intelligence. Britain has NEVER backed down from the validity of their information. Aside from which, WMD's was one of a dozen reasons we went to war with Iraq... try to search those out too... (hint... oil is not one of them) While your studying... learn what is an impeachable offense... If you have it down pat go help out them democratic lawyers that have been looking to pin anything on Bush since he got into office... go ahead... help them out!

Stuart... what makes you think the dem's won the last election? Did they do it with ALL their great ideas? (BTW... Congress on fire... not a thing accomplished yet) It was conservative republicans that sent a message to our party... but hey... feel good for the next year and a half... pretend your party is in power...

BTW... I am not trying to curtail "free-speech". I am trying to say "be smart about it". When we have losers like Gore and Clinton screaming on the senate floor about betrayal or Harry Reid stating "we can't win" it is truely disgusting.

KERMIT... you have a very good point.. I don't think we are there to occupy as we haven't in any war we have been a part of outside our countries borders. However, do you not think that the Iraqi's deserve the support in their infancy as a new country? This is even a harder place to do this because all arab countries are theatened. If Iraq succeeds... the will of many people in many terrorist run nations will begin to take seed. This is why I believe they are so intent on us losing there and pulling out.

to be honest, i really think you do have a point. personally, i don't like terrorists or that fact that we are at war still. but i do believe that we should support our troops so that they can quickly finish what they have to do and come home to us. also, as much as i value my free speech, i value more the idea of knowing that i can live to practice my free speech and that i am protected from these terrorists' attempts to take away everything our country stands for.

I would suggest that the same sentiments were debated in the House of Commons on a more or less regular basis in the 1770's.
I do not believe we Americans would ever give up the fight if an occupying army (no matter how well intentioned) were in our country. I think we would resist to the very end.
We won the war long ago in Iraq. We are not by nature occupiers and that is what we have become. The Iraqis have to be allowed to succeed or fail on their own. The only other option is to wage total war, wipe the slate clean and let them start from Die Stunde Null.

I just watched a special about Israel and the 6 days war back in 1967. It was awesome. They were surrounded by Arab nations on all sides, and they blew them all to hell in just a few days with a few pre-emptive strikes, because they were mounting up against them and taunting them, and the Arabs were lying to their own people about victories as they were getting traunced in every skirmish.
A united front can accomplish much. Egypt had 14 garrisons...5 were destroyed...and the other 9 just gave up because they were beatewn down mentally by the prior defeats.
They didn't have people from within saying...stop bombing Egypt!
That is what can happen when a country comes together and has no choice but to win or get pushed into the ocean.

Oh yes Bush is just such a murderer. I mean what president DOESNT love to see our troops killed going around the streets of other nations shooting at them, stealing their oil, lying about the reasons we went to war (even though the same inteligence in other countries said the same thing) declaring a personal war against Islam (even though democrats backed the war)?
Just forget those silly things called FACTS and EVIDENCE. If you hate Bush, then hate him with all your heart and spew all the accusations and hatred you can. Youll fit right in with more than half the media in this country! Hating Bush is more like a subjective artform with all the artists out there trying to outdo each other with democrats jumping in too.
And are you suggesting that terrorists and liberals have things in common?!?!?!
1. They both hate Bush and conservatives.
2. They dont want the war on terror.
3. They both love to hear bad news from Iraq because it means bad news for America, our troops, and Bush politically.
4. Both want a specific time to pullout of Iraq. One to jump up and and blame the ensuing bloodbath and all terrorism on Bush, the other to know when to strike hardest to make it look like they drove us out giving them their victory.
5. Neither care much about our troops name-calling them and telling them they arent winning and arent going to win.
6. Both want negotiations.
7. Both have problems with Israel.
8. Both want us to stay out of the middle east forever.
9. Both want terorrists to have the freedom to do what they want.
10. Both view America as the "great satan" globally.
11. Both DOUBLY hate our president!!!
12. Both LOVE the liberal media and quote their talking points.
13. Both give the media valuable quotes to promote Bush hatred and America being the problem to everything.
But besides those 13 things, they have NOTHING IN COMMON.

What war have you served in?
How many family members have you lost to war.
How often do you write congress about oil prices (the real reason for the war). America dose not give a flat penny about those people over there.
Guess who put the Shau of Iran in power.
If you think the war is so great and you are over 18 and under 35 put your body where you think it should be in front of a bullet and hope/pray for a lousy shooter.
I support our guys ( some are in my family and in harms way) but I do not support the war.
My husband served in Korea and two terms in Nam and he did ( passed away) not support this war and our son was in Desert Storm both of my nephews are over seas. So we are a military family. So far I have not lost a family member, but every time one of our kids looses their life over there I cry.
Like Phil Ochs sings "I ain't marching Anymore"
It is always the old to lead us to war
It's always the young to fall"
War is not glory it is death and worse. War would not happen except for profit. See how much money Halliberton, and other government contractors are making. Millions.
If you want war lets choose a justified one; one for human rights violations one on our border; ask Bush to invade Mexico they are our biggest threat. And If Iraq and other Arab countries are such a threat why are US companies moving their offices over there. TAXES they do not have to pay many. Yet they are an American based company. Like the companies in Guam. You perhaps need to read more, or at least broaden you reading material. Narrow mindness will cause you to become brain dead.
As Golda Meir (Prime Minister of Isreal) said " war will not end until you love your son more than you hate mine." Wise words from a great woman.

What makes them "the enemy"? How do we even have a war on terror any ways? Terror is a mental state, an idea if you will. If we can declare war on an idea, a fundamental human emotion, then we are all doomed. This war isn't going to come to a closure ever until one side is willing to give. And with our "american pride" i wouldn't be surprised if we lose thousands more lives before we see whats going on. No one idea is right. And there isn't one way the war should be fought. War is a neccesary evil, yet treating it like a good thing will get us nowhere. So if you're looking for the end, stop tying to justify the means.

dozens are dieing each and every day right at the prime of their lives fathers daughters mothers sons wives brothers husbands sisters all being sent to their death and why in a stupid attemtpt to try to save some foreign ppl let me ask u this if u had to choose would you kill your brother or a stranger your choice obviously would be your brother yet we send thousands of our own ppl off to their deaths in a foolhardy attempt to try to save some foreigners i am not against the liberation of other countries but at what cost our we paying for this imagine how would you would feel if your were picked to go off to iraq right now for the war at first you'd make some friends not so dangerous stuff then your friends would start dieing the ppl you'd come to know and love killed right before you each of them with a family back in america their lives only half lived then your sent off on a mission just normal gaurd duty when an iraqian pulls a gun and bang your meager existence on this planet is over your loved ones will weep you are gone forever from this mortal plane
the greatest show of weakness is not that we dont attack but for your enemy to know that you dont know when to stop attacking that you dont no strategic planning and attack head on is not a good plan
and if you still think we should send more troops your wat i call a communist

See how we treat our fellow man? Swear words, insults... All over political matters. Don't you know this person started this thread to start a fight? Its obvious. What, you think this person wanted their ideas changed by your opinion? People are not capable of discussing politics without it turning into a fight rather than debate. Immature is what it is, simply immature. Blaming each other like this, insulting people for what they believe - shame on you!!

My grandmother passed away in 2002 with pancreatic cancer. She was a child when the Japanese bombed pearl harbor, and she watched the towers fall on 9/11. My mom asked her what she thought about the invasion of Afghanistan after 9/11 (she didn't live to see us invade Iraq). This was her reply:
"You know, we had an enemy who attacked us (our country) when I was a little girl. After that, we dropped two nuclear bombs on two of their largest cities. Now, they are our very good friends."
Just a word from the wise.

I agree with supporting our troops!!!
Bush isn't to blame for thousands of deaths.
I basically agree with your last paragraph, but would add that other countries should actively take part in fighting the war against terrorism.
Also, your first paragraph makes alot of sense.
