USE SURF, IT IS STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE TOUGHEST DIRT BUT YET GENTLE ENOUGH FOR SHEETS AND BABY CLOTHES, PLUS IT SMELLS WONDERFUL!!

I think that most perform basically the same (they're all made from the same ingredients), but I've had good luck with Tide, (higher priced with the best smell) and also with Purex (a little cheaper, and not so much scent) but it's really all a matter of personal preference. I really do have to reccommend a degreaser/stain remover called Greased Lightening. There are two kinds. I have had wonderful luck with the one in the purple bottle. I think I bought it at Lowe's and it was in a purple spray bottle, but it gets out just about anything, even if it's been washed and dried several times.

Cheer without a doubt is the best laundry detergent for colors, especially darks. It will not fade your clothes when used with cold water. For extra bright whites, try Cheer with a cup of bleach. But ONLY use bleach with WHITES, it will horribly fade anything else.

Consumer Reports tested and I tried and agree - from Costco, Kirkland Brand and from Walmart, Great Value. They are both the best and the cheapest.

i love tide with the downy in it. i get told all the time how nice my clothing smells plus tide just gets clothing clean. for blood, or other nasty spills on fabric (even the car seats) i use shout, it really gets it out. then target fabic softner sheets in the dryer.

Sure a lot of names to choose from. One claims this another claims that and another something else. I think it would be good to buy a dozen names and mix them all together so you could have the benefit of all them. Sure should make a super detergent.
look to see who makes them. sure a lot of names but a very few makers.
