My rabbit is very average, not a dwarf or lop ear. I'm just worried that she is getting a little bit chubby.

Bunnies will get a fat roll around their necks. If you can't easily feel her ribs when you press on her sides, she is overweight. The majority of a rabbits diet should be a good grass hay like Timothy. Alfalfa is not a good choice for rabbits. Only feed 1/4 cup of pellet for every 5 lbs. of rabbit. Some vegies as treats are OK. A rabbit on this balanced diet will not be as prone to being overweight.

A healthy rabbit should be slim and sleek. You should be able to feel the ribs just under the skin without a thick layer of fat.The hindquarters should not have any folds of skin covering or interfering with the digestive tract or urinary openings. The dewlaps in females should not be so large as to interfere with grooming or eating. If it doesn't follow these details you should talk to a vet.

First you will need to weigh your rabbit. The best way is to weigh yourself and then weigh yourself with the rabbit and subtract the difference and that is the weight of your rabbit. Then call a vet and ask someone there if this is a good weight for your rabbit. It will only cost you a phone call and you will be getting the correct answer.

She's overweight when all she does is lie around and do nothing all day. Sounds like a cat? Rabbits should have large areas for their home so that they could run around and exercise. If this continues, you should probably change the food she eats and let her eat fresh vegetables ONCE a week. Her "waste" may stink and be messier than usual but it's healthy.
