An older band called LA Guns are very special to me and they're coming to play at the closest rock town. When I found that out I was extremely excited because it was one of the two towns my mom would take me to. I have yet to go to my first concert and I'd really like to have it soon. The problem is that they're playing in the Volume 11 Tavern in Raleigh NC, and my mom says I'm too young to go see a band play in a bar. That really struck me hard. LA Gun's fan base is.....not very big I guess. They're never booked around my area to play in coliseums or huge arenas because the audience wouldn't be big enough. They always play like bike rallies and all that stuff. How can I convince my mom to let me go? It'd really mean the world to me.

It doesn't say anything about age and their flyers usually do. If you read the whole question you would've known that I've never been to my first concert so no this isn't usual. Again, if you had read the whole question my mom gave me a reason-I am too young to go see a concert in a bar.

How old are you? Are you normally allowed to go to things like this? Ask your mum why she won't let you go! Have you even asked her? Get an older friend/sibling to take you. If it's an over 18's gig, don't bother...PS, after all your extra whinging, you still haven't said how old you are. If you're under 21 just give up! It's not the end of the world. Ummm, we all have read the whole question and all it sounds like is blah blah blah, poor me, I can't go to a bar even though I know I'm not old enough to get in, blah blah blah

You and me both. I know that where I live, any age can get into a bar. The concert I want to go to is in California, though. And its the last concert this band will be having. Ever. Ever ever.

If it were me, I would just go, and if your mom finds out later, well, you still went, right? She can't take that away!

A friend of mine went to a bar like that to hear his favorite group and found out he'd forgotten the tickets. Much to his surprise, he discovered as he sat in the parking lot on a warm summer evening, he could hear the band quite clearly outside. Would your mother trust you enough (or maybe go, too) to park in the lot and see if you can enjoy the music? (It depends on the amount of traffic passing by and the building's location but it's a thought.)

Even though there was no age requirements placed on the flyer, no bar will allow ANYONE under the age of 21 in. Sorry, hon, you're S.O.L.

You will survive. I'm sure we have all missed the perfect concert due to "unfair" parents and lived to tell the tale.

She's just doing her job. You'll get the strike down the hopes and dreams of your children someday, too.
