To a certain degree, yes.

There are many psychological advantages to being tall and handsome with a strong jaw.

As an example, it's been well documented that women voted heavily on JFK due to his looks alone.

I can't answer for other people, but I pay attention to the issues. I listen to several different political programs every week (those that carry both sides of the issues, at least the most neutral ones). It's strange how gathering as much information as possible can change who you vote for and which party you belong to. Now I don't just think I'm voting for the right people, I know I'm voting for the people who share the same beliefs on the issues as I do.

I have talked to several women who openly admit to voting for the best-looking candidate.

Which is just another justification for my opinion that women should never have been given the right to vote.

Yes, there is evidence that being better looking is a substantial political advantage. It isn't everything, though - after all, Richard Nixon did win twice.

Unfortunately yes. Abe Lincoln, arguably the countries best president ever, could never get elected today because he was not good looking.

Mitt Romney thinks they do, doesn't he?

If it turns out to be Obama or Edwards vs. Romney in 2008, you'll have a definite answer.

Actually the better they look the deeper I look at their record. Did he progress because of their good looks and charm? or did they really do the leg work needed to pass my litmus test.
