In my opinion, not expert mind you, what you are feeling is acceptable, I am guessing you are a healthy, active person. I feel there is nothing wrong with the urge, it's how you respond to it.
If you have a marital spouse, lover, or other preferences, go for it and enjoy. If you are alone, single, etc... there are things to help with this desire.
The act of love is nothing to be ashamed of, no matter how you choose to fulfill this urge, as long as in the end, you are happy and not ashamed, go with it!!
I am a 36 year old woman, I have been touching on the menopause, just a wee bit mind you,but with this change has come an increase in sexual craving. To be honest, I get every bit from my husband as he has to give!! Lord knows 4 years from now, the drive might be gone, so hell, get it while it's hot!!!

Why do you want to control it? Is it for a good reason? I'd admire you if you've realized that lust is a sin actually. Yes, sex is good, but too much too often with the wrong people is bad. It's not with the age, it's okay to have sex over forty, but then again, if it's not your spouse then you're committing a sin. If you're a Christian or if it doesn't hinder with your religious principles then i recommend you the book "Sex is not the problem, (Lust is)" by Joshua Harris, and it's a guide for you to control lust. Good luck!

Why would you want to? Is it causing problems? My advice would be to enjoy it for the wonderful experience that it is, as often as you can.

If you are a woman be glad you're still sexually active. If you are male be glad you can get it up.
