This is a great Download Manager. It even has its own little mini-forum built right in where all users comment on downloads around the world. You can comment on anything you download (all automatic) like after you make a scan of it for malware. Prevents a .lot of heartaches. Based on this - ratings will show if a particular download is actually containing adware or spyware or viruses. This can really help make a decision after finding stuff you want to download while browsing around. One great feature is the ability to Pause a download if you need to multi-task awhile to get back some memory and then Resume.

Free Download Manager (FDM) [working-freeware / scan for adware] http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/index.htm

Free Download Manager (FDM) is a full-featured download accelerator and manager. It is absolutely free! Using this software product you can easily download a list of files and whole web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS and FTP. With FDM the downloading process will be as easy as never before! Microsoft Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP - - - (Scan for adwares)

TIP: Generally with all legitimate software you keep the Installer Package in like My Documents. Instead of "Run" you click "Save To My Computer". Most times you cannot go back to a product website to download it again if something messes up - you'll have to buy it again. If you did not order it on CD (usually an extra 10 bucks) sometimes they charge an extra 5 dollars to return to download it free for 30 days and sometimes a full year.

So, you always Save To My Computer generally at My Documents. Then - instead of clicking Open or Run or Install - you can Right Click the download installer package and then click "Scan" on the menu. Most antivirus and antispyware add this to do this. If there was a virus in the download - you'll know about it asap. Also you may find it was bundled with adware or spyware this way - before it ever infects your computer. The "Scan" may be a little different for each product like "Scan with Norton" or "Scan with AVG Antivirus" or with antispyware "Full Sweep" or "Full Scan" - - - whatever product you have.

These scan features also work as "Custom Scans" on demand by opening your Windows Explorer to all your files. Right Click > Start > Explore .... this will automatically open Windows Explorer. On the left side is the tree of folders and on the right side are the actual files. On the Left side you click the little ( + ) plus signs to spread or collapse the trees.

To get to your software files...

Right Click > Start (lower left) > Explore (on the menu) > (+) My Computer > (+) Local Disk (C:) C-Disk (all files) > (+) Program Files .... tap or click Program Files on the left side just once and the folders of software files will appear on the right. Skim through them and right click the software folder and click "Scan" on the menu with antivirus and antispyware. The Folder for software files would only appear after you installed it, but this can also reveal any embedded hidden malware now ready to activate. You can also simply spread the Program Files tree on the left side and skim down to the software name and right click there and "Scan" also.

When you do this, the antivirus and antispyware will only scan whatever you clicked it to. This is also a much faster way of scanning just Windows for viruses and spyware.

Right Click > Start > Explore > My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > WINDOWS ...... right click WINDOWS on the tree on the left and click "Scan" for your antivirus program and then antispyware to do a full scan of just the Windows Operating System.
