java fern and anubias prefer lower light levels. you can burn them with too bright lights. fish poop is usually enough fertilizer for them. if you want bright light try moving your java fern and anubias to the other side of the tank from the filter and cover the top of the water with water sprite or duckweed or something that will float over the top of the water. it will give you partial shade anubias and java fern need.

Basically yes. The fish provided fertilizer for the plants and once you removed the fish and the plants used up what was available they have no more food and are starting to die. You'll need to get more fish in the tank (slowly because after 6 weeks the cycle bacteria have also died) or else buy some plant fertilizer.

Like you, I also own a freshwater tank. You will need to get some fish A.S.A.P., becuase, the plants need the ferlization of the fish breathing in and out. Plus fish eat off of the plant, so there may be some fungs on the plant, that is not being eaten by the fish. My tank, which is a 55 gal. has flourcent light's, they seem to work the best in my opinion.

Buy plant fertilizer and add some fish, plants need fish, they use their waste as food!
