I don't understand how you can be punished for an unsolicited email.

You most certainly can. You will be told that you are insulting a participant. It doesn't matter what category you are in. Anyone can cry foul in any category.

Lol I have done it many a time and I can't recall getting a violation yet for an email.

What are you talking about? A violation? are you in the US? In the US you would have to make overtly threatening statements or something of that nature to get in any kind of legal trouble over an email.

Judging from the other responders I think you can. But what if you do? Add this person to your watch list and anytime they post (a question or an answer) that even slightly smells of abuse, report them. Don't get mad, get even.

They can go back to your q and violate it, but not the email itself. I told one guy to bite me and nothing came of it.

dont be surprised if you log in some day and ALL your yahoo is gone,,,i mean all of it,,,,gone
