what is the best way to clean/straighten the fins on a evap coil...

its appears to be a really weak alluminum....

A stiff wire brush is the best. Anything else risks damage to the coil. Brush the coil in the direction of the fins, this will straighten them and clean as well. Umm....if this a car question, do you mean condenser fins? Either way, same routine.

Yes it is very weak, You need what we call a comb it will straighten out the fins so the air can reach the radiator, Hope this helps

There is a special tool for that. It's called a fin comb. Do a search for it to find where to buy one.

They (someone) makes little plastic radiator fin combs for just that purpose and they're sold at just about any auto parts store.
