What about Quadro and FireGL cards make them specialized for working, and GeForce and Radeon cards for gaming? Just looking straight at the specs, it appears that Quadro and FireGL cards are just really expensive, though obdiviously they do perform better. What makes this true?

Okay... What makes them better for working? Like I said, I do understand that they are, I just don't know why.

Perhaps they did not understand this was a why question. There are some minor architectural differences not readily visible for the specs, but basically the biggest difference is actually the drivers. The drivers for Quadro and FireGL are specialized for professional tasks, while GeForce and Radeon drivers are specialized for gaming. In fact most people believe that in theory if you could get Quadro drivers to work on a GeForce card, it would perform almost as well on professional tasks as the Quadro does. (Same for FireGL and Radeon).

Quadro cards are NOT for gaming - they're for rendering 3d models like Pixar animation. Also, they're speced higher because their target market (big companies like Disney) can afford them.
