Example: Do I think people who do this are annoying? Absolutely!! Wouldn't it be much simpler to just say it in a statement? I'm sorry this is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Sorry, but I'm one of those people. It is just how I keep so much information straight in my head. There is so much going on with work, school, life, home, etcetc...sometimes I just find myself doing it by accident*shrug** Didn't know it pissed people like you off.
Now I feel bad.

Perhaps the answer wasn't obvious to them until they heard the question spoken aloud and the answer just followed while the words were still coming out.
Some people think aloud and that's their thought process. Try to show some tolerance and consider the source. You don't have absolute knowledge of how their brains work and I'm sure they don't do it to annoy you.

Fear of decay and it works as a memory maintenance exercise. It is normal for humans, especially under stress, to vocalize for themselves so that they may hear a real representation of what they are thinking and run it through their hearing (listening) system for errors and quality. Retarded people for one reason or an other have had that system suppressed, most probably sociologically (shut up) but sometimes from brain damage.

Well, this is the philosophy section, and philosophy supposedly strives for truth. Those who pose the questions therefore have as much of a right to speculate on them. I can't speak for people asking questions in other sections.

When people ask questions and answer them out loud that is called thinking out loud. When people do this they want to hear their answer so they can measure how it would sound to another person. Many bright and famous people do that.

It gives off a kind of different effect, I suppose.
Expresses more emotion.

For example:
"Am I mad at you? Of course, I'm mad at you!"
shows more emotion than,
"I am mad at you!"

An exception to this would be the elementary school insults that go kind of like, "Why is your face so messed up? Oh yeah, you were born that way!"
Yeah.
Those are just annoying and stupid. o.o

In actuality...it is a sign of intelligence. It has been studied, and studies show that people who do that, or many of them, have high IQ's. So...good for them. Good for us.

I guess it's a way to confirm what they knew;. Or it could what they unconsciously knew, and they are just now realizing it.
