Very interesting question you have there. I've been watching the news too, either Taiwanese wants to be independent or some wants to consider having a relationship with China.
You create the 3rd option. I don't think all of the Taiwanese would want to move to USA even if what you say come true. Take the elders for example and those who don't understand English. They would have problems surviving in US. I think, the youngster in Taiwan would love to move to US.

You might *wish* that Taiwan was part of the US, but nobody thinks it should actually happen because it's just not possible at this point in time.
It's the same way that nobody thinks we should find a way to physically tow Taiwan away from China and closer to the US. There are a lot of reasons why people might *wish* that we could do that with Taiwan (more protection against Chinese bombs, cheaper and shorter flights between Taiwan and the US, etc), but it's also just not possible to accomplish that in our time.

I think it would be pretty cool.
After all, (as it is probably so easy to forget), the Philippines were once a U.S. Territory. Everyone living there were US Citizens, and Manila was like Los Angeles, etc.
The US could designate some LA Cops to send them over to clean up the traffic situation in Taiwan, beat up all the bad drivers like they did Rodney King, and throw the book at the others like they did Paris Hilton. And maybe the pollution and water problem would come under the auspices of our EPA.
Yes, under the terms of the San Francisco Peace Treaty of 1951, Taiwan really is ours, lock stock and barrel as spoils of WWII. It is actually up to The US to decide what would be best for them. Not to say we have to annex it, but we could watch over them a little better than we do.
Forget China. Taiwan does not belong to them, period. Yes there is but "one China" and we all know where it is. We don't say it openly but we always mean it subvertingly. Let us not forget to keep thinking it until Taiwan has the best that it can.

Under United States constitutional law, and international law, Taiwan fully qualifies as an overseas territory of the United States.
The sooner the Taiwanese people wake up to this reality, the better!!
The Republic of China is not the legitimate government of Taiwan, see --

I think this "I want my country to be part of the United States" is being a phenomenon nowadays in Asian countries.
In the Philippines, they have numerous groups actively lobbying in the Union to be the 51st state of the United States, and even tourists who visit that country think it should be due to the Philippines' resembling the States in terms of its' people, infrastructure, commerce, education, religion, and language.
But I can't believe that even in Taiwan, which has technically never been colonized for at least a century by any western power (save for brief incursions by Dutch and Spain), there are some people who wanna be part of the U.S. Another thing weird here is that even with its' economic prosperity and peace, there are still some Taiwanese who want to be part of the U.S.
Taiwan will be a liability to the U.S., and World War III will erupt between China and the United States. Certainly, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines will be the victims of this war.
And besides, come year 2020, all the East Asian states will unite under a structure similar to European Union which consists of one monetary currency, removal of trade tariffs, borderless travel, and the like, so I don't think there is a necessity for Taiwan to join the United States. This has been provided in an ASEAN summit on 1995.

"How Come Nobody THINKS That Taiwan Should Be Part of THE U.S.A.?"
You are Taiwanese. Every night you watch the news and you can't stop wondering why you cannot be part of THE U.S.A.
If it really does happen, you think that THE people who LIVE IN Taiwan will all fly to THE U.S.A. and never come back (except on Tomb Sweeping Day).
* Thanks for the thumbs down, maybe someone lost some face...

Are you trying to start World War 3? Even if we got beyond all of the logistic, financial and cultural issues, mainland China would go to war over what they consider to be part of their country ceding to join the US.
