You ask someone what music they like & they say "I like all music"?
I think it's such a cop-out answer.
Next time I hear that, I'll say- "Wow! Does that include Gregorian chants & Indonesian folk sings in your collection?"
NO one likes "All" music....
It really has come to the point today where in order to get a real answer, you have to make the question Very specific.
I guess since music is SO much more readily available today (esp. via the 'Net) people *would* tend to give the cop out reply....

Obviously, you're one of a few anomalies. Most don't work in music stores etc. Most are casual listeners....

It irritates me when they say that and they when I ask What's their favorite Southern band, soul song, old school rap group......or something like and they can't even flub an answer. That's what pisses me off.
I admit, i do not like ALL music but I definitely like a great deal of it. I have my favorite genres and stuff I listen to more than other stuff. I can freely admit to despising dirty south rap, crossover country and emo while loving classic rock, irish punk, third wave ska and rockabilly.

Actually I do have Gregorian chants & Indonesian folk. And I like MOST music would be more correct years: 0-MTV though new classical music is very good.

i dont use it as a cop out answer because i DO listen to ALL music from international, classical reggae, rock, rap, blues, folk, country, ect including all the little sub genres. my cd collection consists of over 7000 cds ranging from all categories and genres. i grew up to appreciate all music. i've worked in a music store for the past 8 years and i feel proud to say i do listen to ALL music.

What's so irritating about it ?
It better than listing everything because they may leave out other music they never thought they have enjoyed listening to .
