My transmission Shift link is broken. I called the dealer and they are charging me 140 bucks for that part, I have a 97 thunderbird. Is that accurate pricing or am i getting ripped off? The part doesn't look like it would cost more than 40 bucks. What do you all think?

Depending on what kind of link it is, a solid rod or a cable, I would say the price is probably right. The bad think is the dealer is probably the only place you could get that part, unless you found a used one somewhere. I had my clutch linkage break on my truck one time. Took it to a friends house and borrowed their mig welder. Saved me over $100 and about 8 hours worth of work pulling the transmission out.

Dealer???
That's about right.
They always charge three times what something is realy worth.

Don't believe me?
Buy a new car, drive it around the block, and try to use it as a trade in for some other car.
