You're making $16.82 an hour.

A year's work at 40 hours is 2080 hours. $35000 divided by 2080 hours = $26.82 per hour.

You're missing how many weeks per year you work. Most people get 2 weeks off per year, plus more for holidays. Not all companies celebrate the same holidays.

So, excluding holidays, you can figure 50 weeks x 40 hours per week. That's 2000 hours per year.

With your yearly salary, you make $35000 / 2000 or $17.50 per hour.

Some people choose to also take out commuting time and work expenses. Those calculations can change those numbers quite a bit.

For example, if your commute time is 1 hour a day for 20 days each month, that changes the calculation to:
$35000 / (2000 + (20 x 12)) or $15.62 per hour.

Subtract gas prices and additional expenses for clothing and your per hour rate decreases even more:
($35000 - $1500) / (2000 + (20 x 12)) or $14.96 per hour.

So, that $17.5 may be good, but if you find a job that pays more than $15 near home which doesn't require fancy clothes, then you'll end up making more money.

35k/52= about $673 a week...divide that by 40 hours and you're just under $17/hr.
