How can music represent freedom to you? How can it represent connections to you? Is there anything else it can represent to you? How can music make people who they are?

For me it is escape. It is communication. it exposes me to ideas, forms, memes, concepts and expressions that I can enjoy, work with and that expand my range of experience.

It is a barrier that keeps others out. It is a door that allows others in. It is that cold, dark lonely place I go when I hide. it is the wide open spaces I revel in when I need to be free.

Music is both an extension of who I am, and it forms me. It's a conduit, a means of expression and communication. it makes me think. it makes me feel. It makes me create. It inspires. It comforts. It challenges.

Music can link me to a past context and bring back emotions related to these past circumstances.
Music is a social experience since its eggining. It brings people together in unisson and it'S a synonym of harmony, because everyone tps their feet on the same rythm so they feel linked to each other at that moment: like they are all connected to each other because they are all sharing the same musical experience. Isn't that what dancing is all about? Connecting to the music and to all the other dancers whether it be duo, or in a crowd dance.

Music sort of describes who you are. Like if you met a guy that listen the heavy metal you would think that that guy is pretty hard core. Music is one great way to express yourself.

It's my sanity.
And in the words of Janis Joplin"freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose"
Music can influence people to form friendships with certain people which can help shape them.

It doesn't make people who they are. I mean, i listen to alot of metal and hard rock and such, but i dont fit the image of the type of people who listen to this. I'm not white, i dont have anger issues, i'm not a problematic person. The only reason i listen to this music is because it calms me down and its just so much better done than the s*** that passes for rap and hip hop nowadays.

music kinda reflects my mood a little bit. If i am very sad i like listening to slow music, it makes me feel better. if i am happy i like upbeat music. If i am mad, i just feel like blasting music, but i don't want to bust my speakers and they don't go very loud so i just don't listen to music at all.
