When I decide to live in the moment. To stop and smell the roses. To really listen to my kids. To admire them for their resilience, their spontaneity, their free spirit. When I find joy in the small, and inexpensive things, like a smile or a kiss.

What makes me happy is waking up in the morning and still breathing!
Realizing I still have another day ahead of me although no-one knows if that day will be completed. I feel happy to just smile and talk to people, and believe me, happiness does come back to me this way.
Music makes me happy too as I performed on stages for the last 20 years ( volunteer work for the elderly ).
Reading makes me happy because I " see" what I read ! And writing makes me happy because I write what I see ( novel and play ).
Laughter makes me happy because this is my favorite activity among many and I have been told many times that I'm a natural clown! ( I don't think I'm funny, but I'm spontaneous )
Performing makes me happy because I can give so much to people from where I stand on the stage, and only performers know how much LOVE a performer receives from those who are watching him. The feeling is often overwhelming!...
( and no, I'm not a professionnal actor or singer because I was never paid for a performance in $$$... My greatest reward has always been to see the happy faces in front of me and that is more than enough for me!
Questions and answers on yahoo make me happy too because I can learn things, share different ideas, experiences, and sometimes agree to dissagree! LOL...
Travelling makes me happy too although I don't travel much anymore but I really enjoyed going to foreign countries and mingle with the natives, not only going there as a tourist and lay all day on a beach doing nothing or going to clubs... I can do that here!
Using my intuition makes me happy because I can 'connect' with higher vibrations and help people in some way.
Replying to your question made me happy because it gave me an opportunity to verbalize ( so to speak) my thoughts.
Happy thoughts to you and Let the SUN shine IN !

I think a life of quiet self-indulgence is the best route to happiness! I'm not sure that would be the best thing for me to do, however. I think to be truly happy we have to care about something more than we care about happiness. Like sleep and good conversation, we cannot always command happiness when we want it. The more you think "I need to be sleeping right now!" the less likely it will be that you will fall asleep. If you confront your friend with "Let's have a good talk!", you are likely to have a moment of awkward silence. We get happiness as a reward for something we have done that does us good. It comes when it comes and goes when it goes. What I am becoming is more important to me than happiness.

Waking up each morning and knowing that God is in control and I no longer have to worry about what is going to happen next.I get to finally know what it feels like to stop and smell the roses that He planted just for us and I get to hear all the new life starting each spring. I have a purpose now that I did not used to have and that makes me happy.

There a re some material people out there. Too bad they don't have something to make them truly happy. What makes me happy is my church, my family, and my music.

Awakening every day alive. I have seen much in 52 years: life, death, happiness, sadness. If I can influence someone else's life in a positive way, then I will remain happy.

Being free of negative emotions, and only being positive. Not letting anything or anyone disrupt my peace. That's happiness and the way to enlightenment of the soul.
