VANGUARD it is funny, has mechs, and the women and men were split up about 100 years before the series so they are fighting against eachother that right their is a laugh riot.
Trust me its a good anime

You can always go with the classic Macross. Old, but still good. Also Macross Plus is good. (The other Macross series are ok, but not as good)
Gasaraki and Brain Powered were pretty cool.
Dual is bit of a rip-off of Eva, but not bad. RahXephon is alright too.
You might want to try some of the other Gundam series too. I'm not as familiar with those though.

the vision of escaflowne
it's about a girl from earth going to another world. she meets 2 guys. and falls in love with one of them [because he looks like her former crush] but she ends up with the other guy. the robots are called guymelefs. [26 episodes]

the robots are called armors. tis guy called van has one very special armor called dann.[or dann of thursday]. van's bride was killed by the claw man, so, van's seeking revenge. he meets lots of people. like wendy [her brother was kidnapped by the claw man and wendy went with van to find her brother]. they met a lot of other people. there are 7 original armors
and dann [van's armor] is one of them.
