1) Kelly Clarkson - I guess I'm biased since I'm a big Kelly Clarkson fan, but if you hear her 3rd album I think lots of people would agree that she has definitely earned her place with the greats. I'd also pick Kelly because of her versatility. I have seen/heard her perform pop, rock, country, jazz, gospel, and everything in between and she blows me away every time no matter what genre.
2) Carrie Underwood - I love Taylor Swift as well. I just recently became a fan after hearing her in concert. Carrie has her beat vocally, but Taylor is pretty talented when it comes to writing and playing her own music. I feel like Taylor's got the whole package (singing, writing, playing) but Carrie's the better vocalist.
