I have to do a biography on a canadian person and i chose Laura Secord. One of the questions asked by my teacher was "what job did this person do in his/her life ?", but I havn't found the answer to that anywhere, so i was hoping someone knew what job Laura Secord practiced in her life. If anyone knows what she did, could you please give me information on it and stuff like, how long she did it for ? thanks !

After her mother died she had to take care of her brothers and sisters. Her father, after moving to Queenston, had a tavern, and Laura met her future husband there, so it's possible she helped out in the tavern. After her marriage she and her husband opened a shop of clothes and household goods.

During the War of 1812...."Laura Secord daringly made her way to DeCew house on the outskirts of Thorold. The dangers of such a journey were many. Overcoming exceedingly hot temperatures and wild, unsettled land, Laura trekked through thick woods and across unbridged streams tattering her slippers and leaving her feet blistered and bleeding..."

If you mean "what job" as in their importance, she saved the Brits during the War of 1812. She over heard American officers discussing plans to attack a British fort (at Beaver Dams or something I think...) She trekked by foot through miles of thick forest to inform the British/Canadian forces of the planned attack in time for them to successfully repel the American invaders. Hope this helps,
-Matt
