left hip hurts ,went to an orthopedic dr. he said could be hernia? who do I go see?

As a healthcare provider I can tell you that hernias are attended to by surgeons. But due to insurance issues...sometimes you need to be seen first by your primary care provider and then referred to a surgeon.

Well first go to your PCP.... if it is a hernia he should be competent enough to diagnose a hernia. He would then refer you to a surgeon for repair.

i assume he was referring to a inguinal hernia. during development in utero the testicles form in the abdomen and later descend through the inguinal canal into the scrotum. your family doctor should be able to asses for this problem and refer you to the appropriate surgeon if war rents which would usually be a urologist

See an internist first to evaluate if you really have hernia.Don't self diagnosed your self.
