I used Vista for a few days and encountered plenty of problems. Many of my hardware drivers won't install in Vista. My MS Office 2003 and Coreldraw 12 won't work. In the end I had to revert back to the good old trusted XP.
If you want a Vista look with an XP engine, you can consider downloading the free Vista transformation pack 6.0. This way you will have the best of both worlds.
Download it here - http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Vista-Transformation-Pack.shtml
Enjoy!

Its pretty good, but still has a few issues, especially with older hardware. If you have some experience with computers, keeping it up shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you have a Pentium 4 2 Ghz or better processor (made in the last 3-4 years or so), 20 GB of free hard drive space, and at least 1 GB of ram, but 2 GB is better. These requirements are higher than the minimum, but the barebones requirements will run very slow. If you do upgrade, do not get the home basic version, which is a severely stripped down version, in my opinion. I've tweaked vista, and so far it has been stable, more stable than XP was right after it was released.

If you have ever use a MAC then you have seen vista but be aware that just because you can upgrade your PC to vista does not mean it will work as it should more than likely you are meeting the minimum specs to install vista and what that means is that you will get a 1 rating from Vista and you would need at least a 4 rating to enjoy vista, at a minimum you should have 1 gig of memory and 2 gig processor to begin to work with vista. I dont recommend Vista until they come out with service pack 2
Good Luck

Dear Member ,
Well i just got my vista , i had some problems at the start with memory and driver issues , but now its good. but i learned one thing that vista needs high system req. to run perfectly. i recommend , u goto microsoft , and install vista upgrade advice. see if ur computer would handle it. For Xp its still a great stable operating system , but in my opinion , vista looks much nicer. Note : just make sure all your hardware and software and your drivers , are ready for vista :)
Good Luck
