Yes I am getting a error message at startup stating to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key, and I can't get back on my desktop, does anyone know or is familiar with this and if so how do you resolve it?

I'm with ray 8128 on this one... possible hard disk failure....but usually usb boot attempt.

Remove the disks from your CD/DVD drive and any USB memory sticks if your computer can boot from the USB.

If you have a recovery disk use that, if not make one on another mach running the same OS and use it.

Your hard drive is either damaged or corrupted.
