It was a big propaganda campaign.
The Russians on one side made this big campaign that what they had was Communism and not just glossed over fascism.
And then on the other side the Gang Of Pirates, pretending to be Americans, bounced off the Russian Propaganda to make a big fear campaign as well.
Each side claimed the other was behind any suggestion for improving their society, and that that alone was reason to avoid doing so. Russia did worse because they acted as a single monopoly in charge of all business aside from the tiniest ones.
But even as they were crumbling from their own corruption and ineptitude, the Gang Of Pirates had what they called the "Committee on the Present Danger" that took the wildest wealth predictions by the Russian propaganda offices and actually said they were UNDER estimates, and that the Russians were this huge threat even as the Russians were barely able to rub two rubles togeather.
Now there is a new set of fake puffed up bad guys out there that are not even as credible a threat as the Russians, but the Gang Of Pirates have puffed them up as a bigger threat needing to take away more freedoms to fight.
So Americans, thinking that the crazed Russian system was "Communist" and believing the GOP propaganda that any attempt to make life for the average person better, is somehow like the failed Russian Fascism, it is natural that they react badly, and against their own interests.
That works out well for the Gang Of Pirates.

Oh I don't know.. Maybe it's the LOST OF FREEDOMS.
Communism is when everybody in a community works together for the better of the commune. The probelm is when this is tried with a large community some people discover that they don't have to pull their own weight but still have a place to live and food to eat. This thought slowly works it's way thur the community and soon nobody wants to work and still wants everything given to them so the gov't has to start making people work just to survive. Thats when freedoms start being taken away and soon it falls in on itself just like the USSR did.

It is not the hatred of communism, it is the realization that communism is a utopian approach that will NEVER work, and which threatens democracy because of the inherent paternalism in communist ideology.
It is an affront to our basic freedoms to presume that the government may forcefully take our land, take our food, take our money, and give it away to free-riders on our efforts.
True communism does not now, nor can it ever exist. It is a political fiction.

Because communism lets hard-working people's efforts go unrewarded. It undermines the value of hard work and inhibits progress. In communism, the government just keeps people where they are and prevents them from moving forward, as opposed to capitalism, which allows people to thrive, excel, and reach their full potential. I know lower-class people have often suffered from the capitalist system, but I don't think communism is the answer. Capitalism is a good system. It just needs some modifications and adjustments. It doesn't need to be abolished.

Because they can come to your home and take your 3 year old child from you, shoot you in the head and force your child to work as a slave for the rest of his short life.
Or if they think there's too many people they can starve thousands of you to death.
And if you say anything the Gov. doesn't like they will shoot you on the spot with no questions asked.
Or as in China they can just run you over with tanks right in front of the American Embassy and no one can do anything about it.
That's just a few reasons why we don't like Communism.

For the same reasons communists hate capitalists. They are the antithesis of each other. They are opposite. They are diametricly opposed.
Capitalism works every time it is tried. Communism fails every time it is tried.
Capitalism feeds the world.
Communism causes starvation.
Capitalism offers opportunity to become rich.
Communism makes everyone poor.
See?

Communism is nothing more than government controlled poverty. The government keeps everyone at the poverty level, except for those which are in control.
