I was browsing for blood donation centers, and saw a campaign for more British men to 'give a toss' ( genius ), but it made me think, after they have used your best 10 sperm for couples trying for a baby, how do I know they aren't making more babies or embryo's for stuff like stem cell experimentation?? After all you would submit your sperm to a laboratory.

There are laws preventing the creation of embryos just for the sole purpose of harvesting stem cells. However, if your sperm is used for in vitro fertilization for a couple, this process produces extra embyros, and some of these have the potential to be used for research (though I do not know UK laws in particular).

you cannot produce an embryo from sperm, you need and egg (ovum) for this and they are much more difficult to obtain (medical procedure). One of the reasons the researchers contemplate using hybrids is that it is so difficult to obtain human eggs.
And the sperm banks don't participate in the research. One has to be explicitly asked if they want to participate in any research. (Ethical commission)

There are laws and ethics about this very thing. But it's possible for a lab to break the law. If they get caught, though - big trouble.

I'm sure that the rest of the sample would be destroyed.
