This married girl fell for me and we had a relationship and had sex. People find out and now shes claiming I slandered her. Slander is saying false information but everything is true and hurting her character. I contacted the local authorities and they said its the truth and you didnt hurt her character, she hurt her own image the minute she slept with you so its her problem, no slander is involved. Can someone tell me how this is "slander" or are the cops right?

Its not slander, and don't blame yourself. You didn't know that she was married...or at least I hope you didn't. And the Cops are right. She made the mistake by cheating on her husband. Thats adultery, she commited slander on her husband, and you, so that lil tramp is at fault here, not you.

P.S. Keep it in your pants next time, god knows you could have caught an STD.

First of all, you need to be more specific about what you said. Secondly, slander is not a crime. So I wonder why the "cops" would be giving you any information about it other to say it is a civil matter. Truth is an absolute defense. However, in most situations, your version of the truth and hers are not going to be the same. As a general rule, you should just keep your mouth shut about your sexual escapades. You may or may not have slandered her in the legal sense. But you look like a fool for kissing and telling. Oh, and the next girl you try to have sex with may have second thoughts if she knows you are likely to open your mouth about it.

She's using the term because it makes her look like a "victim" or something - deflecting from the fact that she made the decision to climb aboard.
She's trying to make you look bad by not taking responsibility for her actions.

If what you say is true, that the two of you engaged in humpin', then it's not slander.
Unfortunately, it's hearsay.
Looks to me you need to stay far away from this person.
Sorry dude! Stay away from the marrieds!

The police are correct. It is not considered slander unless it is not true. Even then, it is extremely difficult to prove someone slandered you.

Nope, doesnt sound like slander exactly. and its hard to prove.
If you have a bad reputation it stays with you, and you have to live with it. Sleeping with someone isnt slander and saying you did it is the truth. .so you canT sue for that.. and win.
Slander is like what the cook county sheriffs did to me. They hired women who looked like ME TO SAY THEY WERE ME, and to have SEX with men solicited OFF MY INTERNET ACCOUNT.. and say that I was the one they ******, then they had the married dudes black mailed and claimed one of the hookers had AIDS TOO.. and then made all the men think I was the one they had ****** .. when I wasnt..
NOW THATS SLANDER.. SEE THE DIFFERENCE..
IT WASNT THE TRUTH AND I DIDNT GET LAID EITHER..

If you told the truth it can't be slander. She's trying to make others think she didn't do anything wrong.

Anything that you don't publicly announce can't be slander. If it was just in private conversation there is absolutely no way it is slander. And if it's true anyway, it's not slander.
