I don't even think he needed a payoff in advance. I'm sure he would think that his accommodating nature would be remembered by the Hilton family.
Hopefully now they will be angry with him since he jumped the gun and gave the judge an excuse to mandate the full sentence be served. If he'd waited a week or two, he might have gotten away with letting her out. But that wouldn't trigger much gratitude from the Hilton clan.
I guess . . .it was brown nosing that didn't pay off.
