Bush doesn't either. He has pushed harder for this Bill than any other single politician. The Bill also was actually a bipartisan effort. I personally was glad to see it not pass, as most Democrats were. You need to realize that the Dems on here are not the same as the sold-out centrists in Washington. We do not all blindly believe or support everything a Dem representative says or does.

No, they care about the POOR! Democrats are the ones with all the social programs like universal health care and expanding the welfare state. Do any of these programs REALLY fix the problem with poverty we have? The last time I checked the unemployment rate was below 5%. That basically says if you WANT to work, you can work. The jobs are out there. They may not all be high paying jobs, but at least it is something.

At the end of the day it comes down to your own personal choices. We live in the greatest country on the face of this earth. You can quite literally be whatever you would like to be. Your only limitations are the ones you place on yourself.

However, Democrats would love NOTHING more than to raise the lowest standard of living (also requiring the lowest amount of effort) to be even with the middle and let everyone compete from there. Well, that's not what free markets and competition is about.

Democrats not only CARE about fellow American workers, they DEPEND on them. The taxes that are paid by these workers go to fund all of the SOCIAL PROGRAMS that entrap a large segment of the American population making them dependent on government for their livelihood. SOCIAL PROGRAMS are the Democrats best assurance that they will always have votes from those Americans who do NOT want to WORK for the American dream.

The current immigrants have jobs. Being a Republican I didn't expect you to know that! But you sort-of should as it is mostly you Republicans that hire them illegally, and the have the Ba__ to come on here and do nothing but belittle them!

What Law has a Republican ever passed to help labor?
Minimum wage...No!

40 hour work weeks...No!

Social Security...No!

Children not allowed to work in sweat shops....No

What has a Republican ever done for the working class, the other 1/2 of America? I can tell you. Steal your money and keep you making $25,000 or less. Other than that, not much. Go find me a pro-worker bill introduced by a Republican that helped workes, not business!

Let me tell you what I think you Repiblicans are really afraid of. They won't vote for you!

It doesn't matter, you aren't winning squat in 2008 anyway!

I think your question should be, Does our government care about the American worker. Republican or democrat the rich are accumulating more and the middle class is basically gone. Everything costs more and the costs are rising. If you aren't rich and attached to the greedy ways used to make and keep that much money, you are loosing ground. The government is supposed to protect us right.....throwing a minimum wage hike at the problem is only to make them feel better about taking so much. What people fail to see is because of that increase, other things will rise in cost. We will be right back to the same place. It's crap and offers nothing to fix the growing problem.

You are kidding right?

And you are talking about the socialists in Congress as well. All those people care about is getting re-elected, and they WILL say or do anything to make that happen. They have made so many promises to the labor movement and failed to deliver, if it was not for all the payoffs the labor bosses get for delivering the vote and the dollars, the union bosses would dump them in a minute.

YOu are dead on regarding the issue and the unions were upset with the dem/socialists. My question is, are they upset enough to dump them in 08

No, they seem only to care about certain workers, workers dues that is, dues that come from union workers. The Democrats largest contributors on a nation scale is #1 Organization of trial lawyers, and #2 Labor unions,,or should we say DUES from labor union workers,,,,poor old Joe six-pack thinks his union and Democrats are looking out for him,,,in reality, nothing could be further from the truth......

The silver-tongued lawyers working for the DNC manage to get the masses to believe all hope rests with voting the the Democrat party---------yet when all is said and done the truth is their agenda is entirely for the ruling elite class.
