I love my home and all who live there. Without my husband and kids it wouldn't be the same.

It's familiar. I can walk around in the dark without bumping my shin. Hopefully no one even wants to think about breaking in here. I should put a sign on the door-Nothing worth stealing-trust me. I have everything I need in these walls and I can go shoeless if I want. I let the cat in-when I want. The water is good and hot and the refrigerator keeps everything nice and cold. There is Caller ID on the phone and I can even unplug it if I want. I worked hard and long to get to this point and I intend enjoying every moment of my home.

For me, home is the place where most of the people I love best live. It's a place where I can join in family activities, but where my privacy is also respected. It's a place where no one gossips about me or says mean things to me. It's the place where all my precious belongings are located. The old saying, "there's no place like home," is true for me.

The smells of Thanksgiving dinner--pumpkin pie, applesauce cake, fresh bread. Spices and good hometown eatin'.

Seeing my family greet me at the door. My mom is always sweaty from working in the kitchen, but I hug her just the same. All the rest of the family has grown or changed or I haven't seen them in too long. Times gone by.

When I put the key to the front door, open it up and see my kitty running to greet me. Before I can put my stuff down, she wants to be held. She purrs and closes her eyes like she is so happy to see me. That makes it home for me.

Just the fact that it's home. I grew up there and it holds a lot of memories.
