You'll need to start with a software package like 3D Studio Max, or Maya, in order to create the 3D objects for the game. A commercial license for these usually costs upward of $1000.

You'll also need to buy a game engine...You can find some that are not too expensive, but generally, these will be less ready for use than the more expensive ones.

Once you have the game engine and the 3D art program, you'll need manpower. You'll need at least one Coder who knows the game engine. You'll need a 3D Artist, and a Modeller. If all of these employees are really good at what they do (which means they're expensive), you can probably get the game built in about a year. If they're not (which is more likely), it can take a very, very long time.

PC games can be released right away, but it will help greatly if you can do this through a known game publisher. They'll want a (fairly large) percentage of your revenues. If you don't have a publisher, you'll need a good marketing campaign, which will take another large chunk of money.

If you want your game to be played on a console, such as PS2, you'll need to get authorization from the manufacturer to convert the game, and then you'll need to pay them for the software that will make it work. I believe this runs in the $20,000's.

nicely, there's some video games i've got taken fairly a liking to over the previous years. i actually like Age of Mythology a attitude interest, the Guild Wars mmog franchise is likewise superb besides as far Cry and plenty Cry 2 the two being great, even with being made by technique of completely distinctive companies. once you're searching for a solid on line FPS, i could enormously propose Counter Strike: source that's probable the suited one around and it has a squel popping out quickly Counter Strike: worldwide Offensive.

For starters...a lot of games like that in these days will require knowledge of and the money for expensive 3D software. Many people major in game design in college...so not exactly something someone could just easily do randomly on their own.

Beyond that, I know games take a lot of programming.

(How are you making it if you don't even have any program to do it with yet..)

for a full 3d game you need a program like maya and its not really a program you can just pick up and learn.to understand the power it has pixar, toy story, finding nemo, uses this program but the cool thing is if your a student you can download the free student version and it is fully functionable and not just a demo version.I would try some games with flash first and action script.
good luck

Game development it's a long process.
Required a lot of technical knowledge, experience and money. Don't waste you time. It's just not going to happend.
It's usually takes at least a year or two with team of several developers to develop a full working game worse to realease to public.

Cheers, DS
