guppies mollys platys and swordtails are all breeding machines. they have live fry and usually stay pregnant. if you keep any of these around you will get fry about once a month. make sure you have someplace for the fry to hide -- a sheet of plastic grass from the craft shop or a ball of java moss works great. they all eat their young right after birth. kind of like my mother. i got missed somehow.

Livebearers are by far the easiest to breed. All you need is a male and 2 females. Livebearers would be platies, mollies, guppies, and swordtails. You have to do nothing else, as long as you have a female and male present, there will be babies, hundreds of them. I do not suggest doing this to save money. This is because once they become pregnant and initially start having babies they'll have 10-30 at a time, with maturity, 60-80 at a time and will usually deliver once a month. Do you really want this many fry on your hands? This will also make a mess of your tank with the constant fry. I would suggest setting up a separate tank for the pregnant females to deliver and then you can raise the young in a separate tank but caution, you will be overrun in no time. Even in the absence of a male, once pregnant, livebearers will usually continue to deliver every 30 days or so for up to 6 months. Good luck : )

Guppies are the easiest to breed, they require a 10 gallon tank, but if you want more tropical, convict cichlids, you need at least a 30 gallon.
If you want to breed Convict Cichlids here's how to do it on this website.

the easiest tropical fish to breed are the Guppies. As they don't need any help, once they start going you won't be able to stop them.

i have been breeding them myself for about 6 months but my parents were breeding them for about 10 years. i had around 5 births and not 1 fry survived longer than 4 weeks and i even had a breeding trap! but i must admit my neons kept jumping in and eating them.(sorry i 4got to say im talking about guppies) i have also tried mollies and platys these werent so bad and we got a couple out of them. We had a hard time keeping females after births, we found out the other fish suck on her stomache bcoz they are very impatient and it ends up damaging all her organs and they die. it dont happen all the time but most of the time. they have fry every 24 days. not all guppies are boring, at the moment i have a really big colourful male and a pink female which is actually pregnant (we had to have 1 more try) but i am actually trying to breed siamese fighting fish i cnt wait for them to come! gd luk and contact me if you have anymore questions about them. im happy to help. lv m.c .x

Common Guppies and swordtails [livebearers] but you;ll have to condition them and let them mature. When they are mature you will see the males do some chasing.
