Certainly you mean the tru olds 260 v-8? '82 is an odd year as to the plug gap. The CCU control for that year made little sense when compared to the actual spec's for that engine. My experience is that .60 plug gaps work the best but-heat heat range must be considered for hot summer operation. As this engine ages the heat range must go colder in median climates. Stick with A.C. plugs for trustworthy adjustments in this reguard. The sloppy cam timing of this engine has to be restored (at or near a 100k) for future continuence of satisfactory operation. Radiator efficientcy must be restored too.

Get a respectable hydraulic jack and place a 2 x 6 on the saddle. place the jack decrease than the oil pan and make effective the wood might help the finished pan. improve the jack until eventually the engine lifts somewhat. do away with the ideal motor mount (canine bone) and unfasten the decrease mount. Use the jack to rotate the engine foward somewhat to realize the returned plugs and block the engine in place. once you replace those 3 plugs, replace them with some thing which will final 100k miles or so. do away with the block, and decrease the jack to enable the engine rotate returned into place. Loosely setting up the top motor mount, then torque the two mounts to GM specifications. you are able to could desire to play with the top mounting bolts to get them to line up. See ya down the line.
