american blacks why do you support democrats,do you not know during the civil war republicans were fighting to end slavery,and democrats were fighting to continue slavery,during the civil rights struggles of the 60`s republicans were fighting to give american blacks the same rights as all americans,and that democrats were fighting to deny american blacks the same rights as all americans,i do understand how the democrat/liberal dominated public education system seeks to keep the truth of history from you,but why do black leaders such as jesse jackson,al sharpton,cynthia mckinney,the congressional black caucus not reveal the truth of slavery and the true slave masters,that they now serve,to keep american blacks in poverty,republicans are not perfect,but they have done more for american black freedoms than democrats.and continue to encoruage the success of the american black citizen,please do some history research and learn the truth,and any young democrat/liberals out there do the same.

in the 70`s,that is when the great democratic plan came into effect to reinslave black americans with their war on poverty,which has been a great failure just ask the katrina victims who were abandoned by their democrat leaders who had a weeks notice that a hurricane was coming and did nothing to help them.

if the democratic party has changed,why then due they not insist that all on government assits,by enrolled in some sort of higher education or trade courses,to enable those on welfare to better their lives?

jenny if this is true why is it not taught in american public schools dominated by democratic/liberals,american blacks are not going to be swayed by this than why is it not taught in public schools and if the only republican that supported freeing slaves was lincoln,how was the law passed if no other republicans supported it,again democrat/liberals trying to cover your tracks,but you failed again,your attempt to enslave the american people will be fought to the end!

Well the only Republican that supported them pre Civil War was President Lincoln, and he went against his own party and was assassinated by them. Abraham Lincoln joined the Northern Union and went against his own party to fight the Southern Confederates that were the Republicans. Lincoln was a Liberal with his Emancipation Proclamation that the Southern Conservatives loath with a passion. African Americans aren't going to be swayed with lies.

Nice try, but the Republicans of Lincolns time are now called Democrats. Why don't you get a good book that will tell you that! The civil war was not started over slavery! Like everything else, it was over economics with slavery as a side issue!

I was in the 2nd Infantry Division on Sand Hill ( I was between tours in Korea) assigned to the Race riots in Alabama and Mississippi. It was the death of JFK and under LBJ that the Equal Rights Amendment was passed! If not for the death of JFK, there would not be an Equal Rights Amendment and we would still have people dying in the streets of Selma, Alabama! If not for people like Kennedy, Martin Luther King and many who gave their lives, blacks would still be using seperate bathrooms

Republicans have done nothing to for blacks, except use them, making sure they have one of the highest unemployment rate, are excluded from their party (but they want you to vote for them), just as anyone else who isn't a white WASP! Guess you haven't been on here too long!

Hey dana, good answer. They are also attacking any gains made, like quota's, but they fail to mention that rich Republicans have an automatic seat in college. Even some who graduated from Yale with a 1.8 GPA got into the Harvard Graduate School of Business. Think I or any black would EVER be considered with a C- from Yale. But Bush got in, didn't he!

They want vouchers for rich kids to go to a private school, knowing that all that will do is dumb down public ones.

Take a guess at how many kids with special needs are accepted at a private school! If it is more than 0 I will be in shock! My kids went to a private Catholic school and I sure didn't see any! Just more robbing from the poor!

The real welfare recipients in this country are rich Rupublicans and corporations!

Southern Democrats: 7-87 (7%-93%)
Southern Republicans: 0-10 (0%-100%)
Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%-6%)
Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%-15%)

obviously you need to hit the history books yourself, else you would already know that the democratic party of today has changed considerably over the years. And the reason minorities shifted to the democratic party in the first place was due to the civil rights movement.

Yeah, I agree with you on that. Not all history is like that, but MOST history I've learned in school is eurocentric. I kept on having to hear the word "Aryan" anytime someone mentioned Indian history, and it irritated me even more when some people tried to claim that Cushites are "white". And those same Eurocentrics liked to mention that all ancient civilizations in Africa only existed in Egypt after convincing their audience that ancient Egyptians were white.
