I had a DUI and 2 tickets for driving on a suspended lisence while it was suspended for DUI and it was in LA County. I turned myself in and was released the same day both times. In LA County if the charge is a misdemeanor and less then 90 days they are usually just released the same day. I have never heard of anyone serving all of their sentence for a misdemeneor in LA. This is just an ongoing battle between the Judges and the Sherrif's. Its been going on for years and the judge is just using her as an example, yet they are not telling everyone what really happens to everyone else. Any other citizen would not spend 45 days in jail. She is being treated unfairly. Just wait until they begin to show statistic of the time people spend for similiar sentences.

When she is in custody, the sheriff makes decision depending on what best for his jail and who he needs to keep and who he needs to get rid of. Not the judge.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, if you were faced with the same charges in LA you would walk right in and walk right out. You can't argue that because its a fact. By the way, I could care less about her, but everyone thinks they would be in jail for 45 days for doing the same thing and their all wrong.

Oh cry me a flipping river.
You should have had jail time in my opinion. I don't want someone who has no respect for the PRIVILEGE of driving out on the roads when I'm transporting my children.
Just like the dude from one of the tv shows who got caught not too long ago said how he's sorry cause he 'could have' been a danger - HE WAS A DANGER. He's extremely fortunate that he didn't kill someone.
Own up and pay up.

She is out serving her time at home on house arrest. She had other things going besides the DUI charges. She thought the first judge was a joke, but this one had no pity for her. As far as her being treated unfairly NO...she did it now do the time!!!!!!!!!

I disagree, the range of sentencing given to judges and juries is to allow the sentence to be appropriate for the crime, which can also include making a mockery of justice which Paris did. She deserves every day of the sentence.

Because California is so freaking liberal I keep waiting for the ACLU to recommend putting victims in jail so as not to interfere with the crimnials rights.

You turned yourself in - you took accountability for your actions.
Princess Hilton blamed it on "her people", failed to sign up for her required Alcohol classes, and then was 20 minutes for her own court hearing -- zero, zip, nada, nil responsibility for her actions.
AND the sheriff cannot commute a strictly laid out sentences with conditions -- unless the judge ammends it and he did not.

You should have been put in jail. What the hell are you doing driving drunk and driving with a suspended license?

Just because you were released early does not make it right or legal. I mean, why hand out any sentences at all, if it is meaningless.
