As I watch all the highlights from game 1 and listen to the ESPN analyists talk about the Spurs Defense and how good it is, I put the DVR on slow motion and realize that every highlight was a foul. Whether it was Lebron being bumped to the ground by Umberto and losing the ball or Tony Parker pushing Gibson in the chest who then falls into Gooden and Tony Parker getting an open lay up, or Tim Duncan pushing off on Varejeo and Robert Horry at the top of the key hitting him with a pass for a dunk, I realize they are all fouls. NBA.com had 3 picks up today - a pump fake by Z that got Parker and Duncan in the air in which eventually Duncan lands on his back, Duncan blocking Lebron's elbow, and currently Umberto blocking Varejeo's elbow. All fouls. I have not seen one good defensive play. Even when Duncan blocked Lebron, Bowen threw his face and chest into lebron trying to get an offensive foul. Where are the great defensive plays San Antonio had? Oh well, the calls will change.
