I' like to study Industrial Design. I hear they both have the Design course and according to USNews.com, the University of Notre Dame is ahead by 4 places... Which one should I choose and why?

Four spaces on the US NEws rankings is not significant. You can get a great education at either of these schools. But they are rather different places. You should look into the details about campus life before you commit four years and $$$$$ to one or the other.

Check the size of the campus, the social outlook (you understand, right, that ND is overwhelmingly Catholic?) and the exact details of the curriculum you would follow at each school.

If at all possible, you need to visit these campuses for an overnight. It would be time and money well spent.

Good luck - you really can't go wrong with either of these terrific schools.

Notre Dame is a great school but good luck getting in to it. Have you just applied or have you been accepted? I'd say apply to both and see if you get accepted. You'd probably have no problem getting into Michigan but like I said Notre Dame is tough to get in, and you most likely will have to have some connections...

Both are excellent schools. But i agree that you should try to schedule a visit to each school.
also, remember that Nortre Dame is VERY Catholic - this will shine through in every course you take and in all activities etc.. Michigan is a public school.

Try this site to see what students have said about each of these schools - it may help you out as well

Michigan because it's cheaper. Being +4 on ranking, even +10 in ranking, won't give you a better education or better jobs. I graduated from a top 20 program in both my majors, and it really hasn't helped me one bit.
