I want to create a wireless LAN network with a house in a different street to me. It is approximately 2 minutes walk to get to this other house. Now creating a wired network is not possible as it would be illegal to have a wire just going across roads and streets.
What equipment would i need to create this network? what does each pc need to have and what networks them together?

First thing you want to do is make sure there is a line of sight between the two houses. If there are tall buildings, many trees or other major obstructions between the two houses you will have great difficulty doing this.

You will need to first purchase equipment like the following

-two wireless routers

-two 7db indoor omni directional antenna's

-two wireless access points

-two High Gain Outdoor Directional Antenna's

-a wireless network adapter for every computer you want to connect wirelessly.

-a wireless gaming bridge for any xbox, nintendo or playstation you want to connect to the net wirelessly

Basically you will setup a wireless router in each home and connect a 7db omnidirectional antenna to it to maximize the area you can receive wireless in your homes.

Then you will connect the wireless access point using ethernet cable to each routers ethernet ports (Not the WAN, Internet Ports).

You will connect the High gain outdoor directional antenna's to the Access Points. Remove the little antenna's they come with and connect the new ones in there place.

You will then need to run the antenna cables outdoors and mount them as high as you possibly can on the tops of your homes and aim them at each other. The aiming is the most important part. The closer they are to being aimed at each other the better the wireless connection between the two homes will be.

You will then set the two access points to PtP Bridge Mode and setup the routers as per the install guides they come with and you will have two home networks connected together. You can game, share files, stream music and video, and even share a internet connection.

well first you will obviously need a standard internet connection, adsl or cable, then will need a wireless router, which will help you set up a wireless network, without any cable going across the street, also make sure you have a wireless card installed hope this helps
