No, it contains too much bleach. But it would be fine for whites, I guess...

Yes you can. I used Dawn dishwasher soap all the time when i'm out of laundry detergent, just use a little bit. I just usually give one squirt around the bottom of the washing machine then throw the cloths on top to prevent a lot of bubbles. We've all been there before. You can basically use any kind of soap for laundry just use less than you would of laundry detergent.

Although I've washed my scrubbing sponges and scrubbing brush in the dishwasher, I'm not sure a dish cloth would get properly cleaned using the same method. It's the agitation of the washing machine that helps break loose the dirts and oils that the detergent breaks down. However, if you wash your dish cloths with your towels or sheets and throws, you might feel more comfortable about things. However, I did come across someone who claims to do just that on a regular basis. The final decision should be yours.

The dishwasher detergent could cause too many bubbles, and ruin your washing machine pump. Although a dishwasher does have a pump, so it may be formulated for not making as many bubbles as regular dish detergent used in the sink. It's probably too harsh for skin. I'd follow some of the suggestions of your other Answerers.

Yipes. Dishwash detergent is far harsher than laundry detergent. However........in this situation, make certain the dish stuff is completely dissolved in the water before adding your clothes or else you'll eat holes

Got any shampoo? Might work better - laundry soap and shampoo are both designed to make suds.
Just don't ever put laundry detergent in the dishwasher - makes roomfuls of suds!

i'd say NO. you're not supposed to even use dishwasher detergent if you're washing dishes in the SINK! but maybe it's just the powder stuff and not the liquid or gel. anyway, i'd advise against it. dishwashers use extremely hot water to get all of the detergent off, and if you don't do the same in the washing machine it might react to your skin when you wear them.

Be very very careful....many dishwasher detergents have bleach in them and your colors will be faded.....Not a good idea....A really cheap laundry detergent would be a better option....
Peace.

Dishwasher detergent contains chlorine bleach and is really damaging to clothes. Sure, use if you are into holes!
