There is this mini-compact car named the "Ford Ka" that is common in the United Kingdom. It's a FWD two door with a manual gear box and a 1.3 liter gas engine and I believe they come with turbo-diesel too.
Does anyone reading this have any first hand experience with a Ford Ka? What are your overall impressions of this car?

In regaurds to the lady that said there wasn't enough boot space for her baby stroller. All you had to do was put the extra Euros in for a roof rack or a "wheeless trailer" that would hang off of the back hitch. Did you even try finding a stroller at the market first that folded up small enough for storage? Most people that drive larger cars don't actually need one. The Ford Ka is adequate enough for a good 70% percent of the motorists out there.

My partner owns one (her second one in 4 years). She is 5 feet tall and 112lbs - it suits her fine. I've driven it a couple of times, but I'm 6 feet tall and 250lbs - it's waaayyy to small for me to drive comfortably.
Fit and finish is fine, gas mileage is good, service and dealer backup is pretty good too.

It will need the codes reading at a local garage. No need to use a main dealer as any independent garage will have the equipment. As for if it will be ok? Assuming you mean the check engine light and not the oil pressure light. It all depends on what is wrong, if an orange light, it should go into limp home mode before any damage is caused. If it is a red light do not drive it at all.

I loooooove ford kas. I'm a girl and so, my spacial awareness is nil and the ford kas are great for manoeuvrability. Kas are great because they're small and sturdy. It's a good old solid car and I've had no problems with it. I will say though, that they HATE reversing and mine usually stalls on me. You've got to really pummel the gas quite hard when you're reversing.

I had a test drive in one once, drove 3 miles and it was that bad i parked up and walked back to the dealership.
Feeble engines, worthless brakes, reluctant gearchange, cramped, ugly.... there is nothing good about it.
Avoid.

I had one on loan while my car was being fixed, it was awfull! It is a compact car and I liked that but the handling was terrible, acceleration poor in fact apart from being compact it was not a pleasant drive.

i dont like driving them, in my opimion, the clutch is too springy and sensative, but suppose it just takes getting used to. and reversing in them is a nightmare. im not keen on the appearance personally, but i know ford is a well known car make and is very good for parts and holding its value, so i suppose its just down to ones taste.

I learned to drive in one, which I think is why I passed my test 1st time
I'd love one now, but they don't have enough boot space for my baby's pushchair
So I have a Fiesta Si instead
