Initially I was considering a Subaru WRX STI, but believe I will go with a BMW. What will I find as a noticeable difference between a 325i and 330i? Mind you I am trying to find something with low miles in the neighborhood of 24k.

If you are looking for refinement, the 325i is quieter, and seems smoother during acceleration. Unless you are the type who likes to put the pedal to the metal frequently (a driving style that would certainly hurt your wallet more in premium fuel these days), the 330i's extra power and expense is not really necessary.

The minor cosmetic differences (chrome trims...etc) between the 2 cars in my opionion are not important.

I've driven both cars, own an E46 323ci (less HP but more torque than the E46 325i).

I would say most drivers, even BMW enthusiasts, will be happy with the 325i. Of course, 330i owners will benefit from driving the "top 3 series" (besides the M3).

I drive a BMW 325ci and a M3 and the biggest difference is that the 325 has less horsepower since it has a 2.5 L inline 6 compared to a 3.0 L inline six of the 330, BUT, the 325 is much easier to modify than the 330. I bought my 325 for $22,000 used in 2004 with 30,000 miles on it and I love it. I only drive the M3 when its nice out. The 325 is my everyday car.

Also the trim around the windows on 330 is chrome. On 325 it's just black

My experience with 325 sports pakage and 330 premium pakage

the handling is ever so much softer. yet still very compitant (please excuse any and all spelling errors). the seats appear to be comfortable, just not really hold you right there feel. the brakes work just as well. the feel is pretty much the same. when entering the freeway, there is enough pep to get me to my desired speed in an acceptable amount of time. there just isn't that extra push you into the seat and keep you there feel of the 330i. also lacking is some low end torque right off idle. the engine seems to be a little noisier and rougher

70 horsepower and $7000 is about the only difference. Also diffferent options can cause huge price increases.

With my experience.... always get the bigger engine... if you don't, you will wish you did later on.
