Pros and Cons about putting underdrive pulleys on my Mustang??

Question

My original pulleys are looking rusted and so I want to change them all out. One person told me to just get the stock ones, but someone else said that I could upgrade the performance a bit by putting the undersrive pulleys on. The upgraded steeda pulleys use the stock belts, so it seems like it might be ok.

Do you know the pros and cons of putting the upgraded pulleys on my Mustang GT.

about the hot and humid thing, I do live in Florida, and I do like my air being ice cold like it is now. Also I do have a mach 1000 stereo - so maybe I shouldnt do it because of those 2 factors??? What do you think?

I know several people with underdrive pulleys and the only con I have found is the price.
The Dollar per HP you get out of them sucks. If you can pull 10 hp from them then consider yourself lucky. Your money would be much better spent on tuning or somewhere else IMO if your looking for HP.

underdrive pulleys lessen the drag on your engine resulting in more power to the wheels. thats the pro. the con is that you willbe providing all the accessories with less power... the a/c and alternator will not work as well and your electricals like the stereo wont get as much juice to the amps, etc...

In most of the country it works just fine. However where it is hot and humid you might want the a/c to blow cold at traffic lights and alternatio to keep the battery charged up while running the A/C full blower speed. If you now notice the A/C fading getting warmer at traffic signals don't do it.

i dont know that much about the mustang but the new pulleys may adversly affect your alts power output at idle but unless you have some huge sound system or somthing you should be fine.

You may see like 5-10 hp increase from the upgraded pulleys.

cons: cost and less accessory power
