What has this to with being Gay? Well I though that would be obvious. That book has been used to oppress gays, and women for centuries.

I was 16 when i turned away from the Church because i was tired of being told I was going to die as a sinner despite the fact I hadn't really done anything wrong in my life.

There are many ways tactics that Christians use to support their faith base. Mass marketing. Rote. Guilt. Terrorism.

Now that I'm older and I have actually read a lot of religious texts including the Bible, the Q'ran, the Upanishads, etc.; I understand that the people who were using fear and doubt as tools to fuel their own agendas were horrible Christians and they have a much greater chance of failing to reach their so-called reward of heaven.

But the people who stand by and take it in stride are poor Christians, too. For those of you who have really studied they would realize that faith is a matter of choice. If you don't explore on your own and find what is out there then you don't have faith. You have dogma. And I hope everyone realizes that nowhere is it written that you are granted favor based on dogma instead of faith.

I have complete respect for those intelligent people who have found a religion that helps them to be a better person, and who make the world a better place by their morality and beliefs.

However, to all of the sheep and the shepherds that have led them astray, you're as godless as an atheist no matter how much you shove into the collection plate.

Your first mistake is having posted your "question" in this category.
It seems you have an issue with Christians, which I would suggest you take up with them in the "Religion and Spirituality" category.

Your second mistake was ASSUMING we here could "know" what you were thinking as if we could in anyway read your mind. Unless you actually SAY what you mean...no one will understand you.

Yes, the Bible says next to nothing about BEING gay or those who are having intimate relationships in a consenting, loving maner.
The ONLY things I have ever seen in the Bible are admonissions against HETEROSEXUAL having sexual relations with young boys. (Temple prostitutes)

But you really should have read over your posting before hitting that "submit" button as your wording and grammar left a lot to be desired.
You simply didn't get to the point at all.

2 Timothy 3:7 describes your situation pretty well. Reading, even STUDYING the bible doesn't guarantee that you will get the sense of it, especially if you're letting someone else interpret it for you. I'm amazed at how many people are convinced by preachers and others of certain doctrines when the bible clearly does not teach them! But then, this is what leads many to doubt the bible in the first place- misinterpretation! When people are told that the bible says something and then they find out that it isn't true and they're left stunned, it's no wonder they turn to false religion!

So, you obviously did not understand what you read. Don't feel bad there are many other people who read the bible and it blows right over their heads too. Too bad though if you had understood it you would be a Christian (I would contend that you never were) and know the greatest power there is, I know this great power and can access it with a single word. All your spells and candles and such that you use to pacify yourself don't work, I know, been there, done that.

Oh, well. Your choice.

I'm a Christian who has studied the bible in depth and still believe in it. Neither your statement nor mine changes whether the bible is true or not.

I say studying the Bible is the quickest way to doubt Christianity!
