Why are senior citizens always giving their grandchildren money , cars, clothes, trips?

Because they think they can buy their love. Doesn't work, the kids only get more spoiled, and the grandparents deplete their savings. The kids should learn to work and earn money for what they want.

Often it's because in their younger days, when their children were young, they couldn't afford to do so. Now that they can afford it, their own children don't need the help - but the grandchildren do. So it's a way of expressing love. And that should be a good thing.

well i not sure about the cars and thing but i know my wife love to get clothes and toys for the grand kids. why well when we had our two kids we did not have a lot of money for the extras. now we have more money we are not the ones that has to do the up keep on the kids so we can have fun and get fun things for them. my wife and i love to take the kids to places and just enjoy them. we could not do that with ours we were so busy working and trying to make ends meet that we never got to just enjoy our kids so now we do with the grand kids.

Well I'd say yes and no. Because they know that they are getting old and they might not have that good use of the material that they are old now. But well its a good thing because they are giving the stuff away before it gets all given away. It's not a good thing also because why should they think about getting that old too earlier. They should get a chance too fulfill their lives.

Probably not. But the majority of the elderly who no longer have to work and have money just sitting in their bank, want to spoil their grand kids.
I knew a lady who was retired and LOVED to throw her family parties(birthdays,holidays) She always made a point to get all of her grand kids special gifts. All that was very important to her. I just think it gave her something to look forward to, and it kept her busy.
