Thousands of guns are obtained by the wrong people, the laws are too loose. yes I know all about how you dont rob people with a gun which is not true as the crime in the usa is sky rocketed..so where is that theory based? To many thugs have guns of all sorts and they get it too easily.

lifelong dem here and the only way i would change the gun laws would be to make everyone carry.the govt would love an unarmed population,they would have even more contempt for us then they do now.

Well for starters bad guys get guns in spite of laws already in place. In America convicted felons have their gun rights taken away, yet they can still buy guns on the black market. Which is bad.....the guns cannot be traced when used in a crime.
All that you will be doing by adding more gun laws is taking guns out of law abiding citizens hands, and therefore making it easier for criminals to rob, kill, and terrorize good people.
So adding more gun laws will only make the crime rate increase by taking away people rights to defend themselves. I imagine that if you had someone break into your home and assult you that you might like to have a gun in your hand to defend yourself?
There are bad guys and good guys.....and as long as the bad guys can get their hands on guns......then I will have mine.
I find many of your opinions not well thought out and very flawed.

I see you don't have a good basis for reasoning. I don't see how the gun laws we have now is going to increase violent crimes. They actually keep them from happening. Think about it, if you knew that a person owned a gun, would you even consider robbing him?
I own lots of guns and the only one that could have hurt or killed someone was my carry weapon which used to belong to an Atlanta police officer.

The 2nd Amendment:"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. "
The right of the people(that means the citizens not the military) shall not be infringed, the current laws are not in forced we don't need any more.
Washington D.C. banned gun ownership in the 70's and has had the most violent crime in the Nation ever since then this ban was recently deemed unconstitutional and is fading fast thanks largely to the 4,000,000 + members of NRA.
Guns have been part of the American culture for over 200 years.
If you don't like the gun laws in the US then perhaps you should move to Australia where they are banned!!!!

What do you mean by "liberal gun laws" ?
As long as people like George Bush can be elected president and the 1996 Telecommunications Act allows a handful of people to control all news information in the USA, I'm not comfortable with any changes in our gun laws.

If you are an American citizen and own your own property you have a right to defend yourself with a gun if you are threatened, even from the Government and law enforcement.
If you have done nothing wrong, you have the right to own arms and use deadly force to protect yourself and your family!
It is our Constitutional right, and it was put into place to keep this country from being run and destroyed by the very force that is doing it now!!
Remember: Guns don't kill people, people kill people!
There are a lot of Elite running things who would like to take that right away and they have their little gun hating groups pose questions like this right after insane people go crazy like that kid at Virginia Tech, and they push to take our protection away.
I will not be a slave in my own country and there are millions more, just like me!
Liberal laws, someone isn't very informed!
I am a proud gun owning Republican Conservative!
When they start rounding people up, you will wish you had one - guaranteed!

What is liberal about our gun laws? They do nothing to stifle crime and they only serve to disarm or restrict law abiding citizens. A more appropriate question would be "Why don't the people protest the restrictive gun laws in the USA?".

The ONLY gun law change I'd like to see is taking guns away from resident aliens,( Va. Tech.). We the people have the right to bare arms, not non citizens.
And I'm a liberal.

Actually in most states there are very few gun laws, liberal or otherwise. As it should be.
