I would expect two fitters (without smoke breaks:-)) to replace an engine in 6-8 hrs.
I know it doesn't help but I have actually watched two VW factory trained fitters change a 'beetle' engine in less than twenty minutes.

This is a 54 degree V6 engine built in Ellesmere port, England. In an omega, the cradle probably will be dropped and the trans removed from the engine once dropped. I would expect a minimum of 12 hours total , though some guys could do this much much faster. 12 hours would be a good expectation. Total costs should be between 4 to 6 k with a new OEM engine. Good luck

You can take the engine out through the bonnet, everything has got to come out in front of it and there is plenty of pipework electrics etc, to disconnect as well.
If you are doing it yourself as a one off I'd be looking at a day to take it out and the same to put it back in.
On ramps in a garage you'd be looking at ten hours average.
Yank boy has'nt got a clue.

If this car is a 1997 to 2000, it is the same as a Cadillac Catera here in the US and GM labor guide calls for 9.3 hours.
