Yeah, it was pretty big. Not as big in America as it was in Scotland, where if you start singing it in a pub you'll still start a riot of drunk people singing along, but pretty big.

Yes, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) wasn't a hit at first but then it was included on the Benny and Joon movie soundtrack and became a hit in the mid 1990's.

Yes. It was a big hit. It was on the movie soundtrack for 'Benny & Joon' with Johnny Depp, so that kind of catapulted it into a hit.
