I agree with you, but disagree on the 40 days part. Every inmate is entitled to "good time" credit, which is earned with in custody time. (It's usually a third off for good time). So in that respect, Paris isn't getting a break. However, I do think that the average person wouldn't have the luxery of their own cell or any of the different special treatment that Paris has gotten either. JMO
Ghost Rider - I really think you are missing the point. I don't know who put it in your head that if you are released from jail that your sentence is satisfied. It's not how it works. She was released from jail AGAINST judge's orders and she was picked up, had a hearing and is returning to what she was supposed to have served. That, if anything, is the definition of justice.

If she were a black celebrity (or a very well known person of any race) she would not, and should not, be in "regular population".
People have a tendency to be jealous of the same sex's looks, public stature, and wealth. For simply possessing good looks, fame and fortune, imposes a threat to a person in prison, jail, on the streets, and in church. (In other words--everywhere). But especially in jail where an individual is exposed to a harsher environment..
Paris Hilton does deserve time behind bars, because driving drunk is very dangerous. However, I don't think that ANY celebrity who's put in jail, should be put in with the general population. Some creep would do something evil just to get 15 minutes of shame or simply because they're jealous that she's a "have" and they're a "have not".
I know firsthand how jealous, colddhearted and cruel people can be simply because another person has more than they. (Even if it's just a little bit more.)
So, if they can protect weirdos like child molesters---why shouldn't the system protect her.(The only person she hurt was herself.)

There were a few important things that happened in this fiasco.......the first is;
1.Should a lousy sherrif have the power to over rule a court judge even when that judge explicitly said no home detention?
2.If Paris had got away with her mansion detention, she would be a marked woman for the rest of her life, she wouldnt be able to go out public without hundreds of people queueing up to spit on her or give her the bash. I believe the judge did her a favour.
3. Its a kick in the guts to the rich elite who think money can buy anything, and thats a good thing. knocking rich punks down a peg or two is fun.

AMEN!!! She will become MORE popular if anything because of all the limelight she is receiving. Just another celeb who scr*ws up!
True about the race/status thing. If she was anyone else, there would have been NO doubt on the sentance being served from the beginning!

I just really hate when people are treated differently because of their fame, money or ethnicity...it just shows how people are so superficial...everything revolves around money, looks and race...its so pathetic
