NO NO NO! Why would you want to? VIN is usually in several places on your car, not only on the dash ... and even trying it is a good way to get yourself in a great big instant mess with your local law enforcement people... VIN does a lot to ID your car, not only the model and year but engine code and build serial number. Any good dealer can take your VIN and usually print out a sheet detailing almost every feature of your car.. right down to the interior color, brakes, axles....

A VIN is a number unique to a vehicle and assigned by the manufacturer using a unique formula to give information about the vehicle. No, you can't change it.

About 5 years ago the DMV asked me to get a new VIN number. I went to the Highway Patrol and they DID give me new number. Check with them. Depends on the reason.

It is illegal to change the VIN on your car..it is how your car is individual form any other car that LOOKS just like yours..

No, it's illegal and you can get caught, most vehicles have matching VIN numbers on two or more other places on the vehicle other than the visible one, and that's how they can catch you.
