I am a flight attendant--and so, I stay in hotels a lot. I can tell you that they wash the sheets and pillow cases, but they do not wash the comforters. I am not sure if they ever get cleaned.

So, I never use them--and if it very cold, I will just make sure the sheets cover my body, so my skin doesn't touch the comforter.

and it doesn't matter how nice the hotel is-- they just don't wash the comforter... I have stayed in some really nice hotels.

I had a friend get bed bugs @ a hotel.. pretty sick.

I don't know how often they wash them, but i recently saw on the news that people have reported bed bugs!even in high quality hotels! They come from the airport from other countries and "hitch-hike" on people's luggage and suitcases.

They rarely wash the comforters. Don't use them! Some hotels are now using duvet covers, that are washed between guests, but if it's just a standard bed spread/comforter, it is probably quite dirty. The pillows shouldn't be a problem though, since they are protected by the pillow case.

The pillows never get washed (as you can't wash pillows very nicely). The comforters.....I'm scared to ask. I doubt they get washed very often but since you don't really have contact with the comforter (since you sleep on/between the sheets), I doubt they deem them that high on the list to be washed.

Since most hotels don't give you new towels unless you put them on the floor (so they can save money & the environment), I doubt they're going to spend the money to wash bulky comforters often.

Personally, I travel with my own pillow case and a sleeping bag like sheet set that I lay within so that I minimize my germ "exposure".

Hope that helps.....

I worked in a hotel for a year in college and I can proudly say that we washed EVERYTHING EVERYDAY! I am a germophobe bad and I would disgruntled and complain if they were not. Some shifts wouldn't clean the comforters but on mine they did and we used hard cleaners, too.
When you go to a hotel you can tell if they have been washed or just put back on. If you feel leery about it, just ask for another comforter. My sister and I when we travel always bring a travel blanket to sleep with or on. It works great!

average hotel -pillows never! they cant wash pillows, they throw them out after a while.
comforters they wash after the guest leaves. sheets and pillow cases they wash ever couple of days and when the guest leaves this is an average atleast where i worked however the maids do monitor the pillows and if they see something they get rid of them like a *** shot or whatever

That's a question you really don't want an honest answer on. I would guess once a year. Yuck!
